Imminent ASHI system causes planned strike action
Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA) is due to implement Advanced Shipment Information (ASHI) on March 1st, a system which will be mandatory for all shipments to Ghana including transit cargo. Bills of Lading will each have to be covered by a validated ASHI document, which will increase costs.
Freight Forwarders operating at the Tema Port have threatened to embark on a two day sit down strike and may extend it to one week should ASHI not be cancelled.
